Al Mar is an absolute legend in the semi-custom/production knife world.
He served very early in Vietnam with U.S. Army SF; likely prior to disclosed MACV-SOG activities.
He went on to work for Gerber knives as a designer, then founded his own company, with the knives being made in Seki, Japan; a place with much history in fine blade-making.
He had an ongoing relationship with various SOF personnel for the design and manufacture of certain of their knives.
This knife was actually first designed for SERE school.
