Description
THAILAND- 10 pieces Cowry Shell Money, circa 19th to 20th Centuries, with small information certificate. These were collected among the Hill Tribes, used as ornaments, amulets and as a Primitive or Odd and Curious Money in bride price, imported to Africa and Asia by European traders in the millions. Some of these have had the upper portion of the shell ground or broken off for use, thus the term 'cut back' cowrys. All are quite nice, shinny, some are drilled for use, others not. Listed in all works on Odd and Curious Money, and even a few works have been done just on these. This lot contains both species, Cyprea moneta (money cowry) and Cyprea annulus (ring cowry). Great addition to any collection of Southeast Asian coins, Odd and Curious Money collection, great for the classroom, etc. Normally with all of our lots, the picture is the actual lot you are bidding on, in this one case only, as we have sold so many of these on eBay, we have become lazy, and the picture is only representative of the lot. In other words, you will recieve exactly similar shells, from the same group, but not the pictured shells. Same types, sizes, etc.READ THIS
Please Note-
SHIPPING- Due to repeated problems with items sent outside the U.S." not arriving", we are forced to require all foreign shipments be sent by Registered Mail only. There will be no exceptions to this, no matter if you are willing to risk your items loss or not. Pay Pal recognizes proof of delivery only, and other than Registered Mail, there is really no inexpensive means to ship items outside the U.S. with some proof of delivery. We no longer ship to Italy at all, sorry. Italy actually prohibits valuable items, such as coins, bank notes, stamps, etc. to be shipped via Registered Mail, the safest means possible! The United Kingdom only allows valuable items to be sent via Registered Mail. Canada, you are outside the U.S., so the Registered only applies to you also. The base price for Registered Mail for overseas is .95, in addition to actual postage costs. Overseas, if you do not want to pay for Registered Mail, please do not bid. Registered can be slow, as all handling Registered must sign for it, and it must be under lock and key at all times, often it can take as long as 30 days to arrive. With this in mind if you are the other side of the world, please do not email us with questions about why your lots have not arrived 5 days after you receive our shipping notice.
FEED BACKS- We no longer give Feed Backs for items we sell. Unfortunately eBay's Feed Back system has become a joke, and a great time waster. Not giving a Feed Back on items we sell is not a reflection on the buyer in any way. We do give Feed Backs on all items we purchase on eBay.
