and many, many photos of features and locations in the greater city area.
This book covers all aspect of the physiography, topography, and geology of the Philadelphia area. I've shown the table of contents of the book in the photos, and also a few pages of the list of illustrations, though there are many more in addition. Most of the illustrations are photos of features and locations with descriptive text.
The geology is varied with young sedimentary rocks covering older metamorphic an igneous rocks. The fold out map is pretty cool because many familiar streets are shown and named, as well as old landmarks in the city. There is a section on the minerals making up the rocks of the area with photos and drawings of the main kinds. Toward the end of the book is a section on quarries around the city, with discussion of their geology.
This ought to be of interest to mineral collectors and historians, or just people that love the area and want to know more about it. This is a rare item to find complete with all parts. Sometimes the map is missing, likely because it was removed to be framed. These state publications are harder to find than USGS bulletins. This is especially true of the older ones like this.
