Describes the mines and mineral deposits (mostly tungsten) of this district located in the southern part of Mono County, 12 miles northwest of Bishop. The Black Rock Mine ranked second in the production of tungsten concentrates in California, and the sixth largest in the United States. Ore consists of scheelite-bearing contact-metamorphic tactite deposits.
